Music for Phonics & Phonemic Awareness
Rose and Magnotta (2012) found that students taught to read using arts-based methods, like music programs, outperformed their peers in phonemic awareness, phonics, and oral reading fluency. Phonics and Phonemic Awareness are basic pre-reading skills that can be augmented by participation in music.
