Carr et al., found that preschoolers who were able to synchronize with external acoustic pulses had better pre-reading skills than students who could not match beat patterns (2014). Rhythm awareness is important to reading readiness. Rhyming books that employ even phrases and rhyme pairs can help create rhythm awareness.
